How Goat Rental Works
"Goat rental" is the simple name for what we call targeted grazing or goatscaping — bringing in a herd of goats to chew through unwanted vegetation on your property. When you rent goats from Goats at Work, you're not just getting animals dropped off in your yard. You're hiring a complete service: a professional shepherd, portable electric fencing, daily monitoring, and a herd of 100+ Kiko goats that have been trained for this kind of work.
The process is straightforward. We come out to assess your property, give you a quote, and once you say go, we deliver the goats and set up secure fencing around the area you want cleared. The goats do what goats do best — eat brush, weeds, invasive species, poison ivy, buckthorn, wild parsnip, phragmites — and we keep an eye on them daily. When the work is done, we pack up and move on.
What's Included When You Rent Goats?
We bring the herd to you, set up portable electric fencing around your project area, and make sure everything is secure before we leave. You don't need to own land for goats or have any special infrastructure — we handle it.
DELIVERY & SETUP
A shepherd checks on the herd every day during the rental — water, fence integrity, progress, and animal welfare. Our livestock guardian dogs stay with the herd around the clock.
DAILY MONITORING
Our 100+ Kiko goats aren't pets borrowed from a hobby farm — they're a working herd that's been doing targeted grazing across Ontario since 2021. They know the job.
A TRAINED HERD
When the area is grazed down to the level you want, we collect the goats and equipment and head out. No cleanup. No chemical residue. No torn-up soil.

Goat Rental Pricing
Every property is different, so we don't quote flat rates online. The cost to rent goats depends on:
- Acreage — how much land you need cleared
- Vegetation density — light brush takes less time than a thicket of buckthorn
- Fencing requirements — wide-open pasture is faster to set up than a steep wooded slope
- Travel distance — closer to Coldwater is more efficient than the far edges of the region
- Project length — most rentals run from two days to three weeks
